Commitment to the Community: Holidays at Miller Children’s Hospital

One of our favorite parts about the holiday’s here at the bakery is the opportunity we get to spread cheer. We know that while this is the most wonderful time of year, the reality is… it can also be incredibly trying for those going through hardships. While we know we can not touch everyone, we try our hardest to reach out to the community around us and sprinkle a little bit of light where we can. One way we do so is heading to see our friends at Miller Children’s Hospital. Every year they do an amazing event, “Santa’s Workshop”, where they invite patients and their families to do arts and crafts, meet Mr. & Mrs. Clause, decorate cookies & most importantly show the great community of support with intentions of helping the families forget, even just for a minute, that they are in a hospital.

This year we donated gingerbread cookies for the kids & families to decorate and they seemed to be a hit! Thank you to the amazing Child life team for providing emotional and social support all year round, we were so honored to be a part of this day!

Commitment to Community: Donut Boy Celebrates his 10th Birthday

 

Last week Donut Boy, Tyler, asked the Rossmoor family to be a part of a very special community celebration for our local first responders . This adorable 10-year-old from Alabama is on a mission to spread awareness and thank police officers for their loyal and selfless service. Tyler began his mission in August and this last week was on a very special leg of his trip; 10 states in 10 days for his 10th birthday!  Tyler has donated over 32,000 donuts nationwide to first responders and has visited over 20 states. We felt incredibly honored to have been asked to be a part of such a special birthday for such a great cause. Thank you Tyler for highlighting a group of people we are so grateful for here at Rossmoor, we are very lucky to have such brave men & women around the corner from us. Thank you Long Beach PD & Signal Hill PD for all you do and for allowing us to be a part of your special celebration!

Commitment to Community: First Responders Month

“Bravery is not the absence of fear but action in the face of fear”
Rossmoor is grateful for all first responders but is especially grateful for our local heroes. While there is little we can do that amounts to the service that these men and women provide for us and the community, we were able to go out and meet some of these amazing people to thank them personally. Being given a whole month to celebrate our community heroes was an honor.
Thank you all for your dedicated service & for welcoming the Rossmoor family with open arms. Happy first responders month! We hope you enjoyed your treats and hope to see you all in the bakery soon. Your important community service & dedication to our safety never goes unnoticed but we are so happy to highlight you this month.

Pastry Profile: Meet Jorge

Jorge has been a part of the Rossmoor Pastries family since he was a young lad and continues to be a pivotal part of our passion here at the bakery! Jorge’s favorite part of working at Rossmoor is building relationships with those around him. He feels incredibly passionate about what he does and loves being able to use his creativity for something so special!

 

Jorge’s favorite Rossmoor goods are the tropical fruit cake, the tiramisu cake and apple strudel. When he’s not creating at the bakery he is spending time with his family, hitting the gym (after all those pastries) and playing soccer.

 

Jorge has been baking for 32 years and enjoys every moment of it but when he’s winding down at home he loves a good puzzle & solving brain teasers. Not only is Jorge a master baker but he also has a knack for magic, be sure to ask him for his best trick next time you run into him!

 

We love having Jorge in our Rossmoor family! Thank you for all you do!
